SOM cartoonist attends Alva’s Cartoon Siri Workshop at Moodabidre

Mysuru: The fifth Alva’s State-level Cartoon Workshop was held at Moodabidre on Nov.12 and 13. Star of Mysore  cartoonist M.V. Nagendra Babu, popularly called as Banter Babu, took part in the camp.

The workshop was inaugurated by Dr. M. Mohan Alva, Chairman, Alva’s Education Foundation.

On the first day each cartoonist drew two cartoons on Gandhiji as the topic given was on 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. One caricature of renowned people  of their choice was also drawn.

On the second day, all the cartoons and caricatures were displayed at the campus for students, media and public.

Veteran Cartoonist K.R. Swamy, 78, who has drawn more than 40,000 cartoons, was presented Alva’s Cartoon Siri Award-2018.  Dr. Mohan Alva distributed Appreciation Certificate to all the cartoonists.

Nearly 26 cartoonists including some of the prominent ones like  Prakash Shetty from Prajavani, James Baz from Taranga, Chandra Ganguli from Vijaya Karnataka, convenor of the function Naganath,  President of Karnataka Cartoonists Association Shekar, Gujarappa of Karnataka Chitrakala Parishat, Dean Babu Jatkar, Jeevanadalli Shetty and internationally renowned cartoonist B.V. Panduranga Rao took part.

All the cartoonists drew their vision on a big canvas and the theme was “New Generation Youth.” This took more than two hours to finish the canvas and was displayed at National Nudisiri cultural camp which took place between Nov. 15 and 17.

A total of 34,700 registered people came from all parts of the country witnessed the cartoons on display.
