Mysore/Mysuru: Co-operation and District in-Charge Minister S.T. Somashekar visited the office of ‘Sudharma,’ one and only Sanskirt Daily newspaper in the world, here on Monday and offered tributes to its editor, K.V. Sampath Kumar who passed away recently.

He also met the family members and consoled them.

On this occasion, Vidushi K.S. Jayalakshmi, wife of late Sampath Kumar, informed the Minister that they have been bringing out the Sanskrit Daily in the last 50 years without break. Since the paper comes out with just two sheets, advertisements will be very less. They were publishing this Daily despite hardship. Efforts to increase this to four pages have not become possible. The co-operation from the State Government was must in this regard, she added.

She also showed the Golden Jubilee special supplement of ‘Sudharma,’ annual calendar and the photo albums of the 41st and the 42nd anniversaries. The Minister was taken to the printing section to show the printing of the Daily.

Somashekar said that ‘Sudharma’ newspaper was working tirelessly for the promotion of Sanskrit language and directed Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) to allot a site to newspaper owner. “I will appeal to Chief Minister B.S. Yediyurappa to give the Government advertisements which are released through Department of Information and Public Relations, to ‘Sudharma.’

MUDA Chairman H.V. Rajeev, City BJP President T.S. Srivatsa, Secretary Vaneesh Kumar and others were present.
