I am writing to draw the attention of the authorities to the deplorable condition of Harishchandra Road, which begins near Madhuvana, crosses M.G. Road and leads towards Gun House Circle.

This is an important road used every day by commuters travelling towards Gun House and by pedestrians heading to the bus stand and nearby areas.

The road has been dug up repeatedly, first for laying underground pipelines and later for cable work. Unfortunately, it has not been restored properly. Today, it is riddled with large potholes and strewn with debris, making it difficult and dangerous for motorists to use.

The situation is even worse for pedestrians. The footpath is almost always occupied by vegetable vendors, leaving little or no space for people to walk. The vegetables also attract cattle, and cows are frequently seen on the road, adding to the chaos.

With no usable footpath, pedestrians are forced to walk on the carriageway, exposing themselves to the risk of accidents. At the same time, motorists have to negotiate potholes while trying to avoid pedestrians, vendors and cattle, making this stretch unsafe for everyone.

I hope the authorities will take immediate steps to repair the road, clear the debris and ensure that the footpath is available for pedestrians.

We have endured these unsafe conditions for far too long. When can we expect some relief? More importantly, why are the authorities continuing to ignore the condition of such an important road and the safety of the public?
