South Zone Athletics: Mysuru’s Dhanusha wins two gold medals

Mysuru girl M.R. Dhanusha, representing Karnataka in the South Zone Junior Athletic Championships-2018 being held at Acharaya Nagarjuna University campus at Guntur in Andhra Pradesh, yesterday won two golds in the Girls U-20 Heptathlon and 4x100m Relay events respectively.

Dhanusha secured 4,324 points in the U-20 Girls Heptathlon event to win the gold.

Anjaly Thomas (Kerala) secured silver with 3,961 points, while R. Aishwarya of Tamil Nadu with 3,893 points secured bronze.

Dhanusha was part of the gold-winning 4x100m Relay quartet of Karnataka (H.V. Pooja, Dhanusha, Kaveri L. Patil and A.T. Dhaneshwari), which won gold in the U-20 Girls section with a timing of 47.8s.

Dhanusha also won a bronze medal in the U-20 Girls Long-Jump event leaping to a distance of 5.66m.
