South Zone Inter-University Cricket Tournament for Men 2025-26: Osmania University champions

Mysuru: Osmania University, Telangana, emerged as champions in the South Zone Inter-University Cricket Tournament for Men 2025-26 held at JSS Science and Technology University (JSS-STU) campus, Mysuru, yesterday.

With the championship title at stake, the contest was marked by intense competition, high-pressure moments and standout performances from both sides.

The final reflected the quality and depth of University cricket in the South Zone, bringing the tournament to a thrilling conclusion.

Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU), Belagavi, faced Osmania University in the final match. After being invited to bat first, Osmania University amassed an imposing 214 for 5 in 25 overs.  Kunal Daswani top scored with  65 off 41 balls.

In reply, VTU Belagavi fought hard but was bowled out for 204 in 24.3 overs, with Samarth Hegde top-scoring with 46 off   34 balls.

Osmania University held their nerve to secure the victory, with Vamshi Kumar named Player of the Match for his impactful    bowling performance.

Osmania University 214/5 in 25 overs (Kunal Daswani 65 off 41 balls, Vaibhav Sajaana 45 off 27; Pranesh Kumar 2-0-12-0) beat VTU Belagavi 204 all out in 24.3 overs (Samarth Hegde 46 off 34 balls, Vishnu G. Goudar 39 off 32; V. Yashveer 5-0-29-1).

Final Standings

1. Osmania University, Telangana, 2.Visvesvaraya Technological University, Belagavi, 3.  REVA University, Bengaluru and 4. Anna University, Chennai.

All four teams qualified for the  All India Inter-University Cricket Tournament 2025-26.
