Mysuru: University of Mysore (UoM) will be hosting the week-long South Zone Inter-University Women’s Cricket Tournament from Jan. 23 to Jan. 29.
However, the inauguration of tournament will be held this evening at Sports Pavilion, Maharaja’s College Grounds premises in city at 4.30 pm.
The tournament will be inaugurated by Social Welfare and Mysuru in-Charge Minister Dr. H.C. Mahadevappa.
KSOU Vice-Chancellor Prof. Sharanappa V. Halse, MLA K. Harishgowda will be the chief guests. DCP (Law and Order) M. Muthuraju, University of Mysore Finance Officer S. Rekha, Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) Mysuru Zone Convenor Harikrishna Kumar and UoM Syndicate Member Mahadeshu will be present.
The valedictory and prize distribution will be held on Jan. 29 at SDNR Wadiyar Cricket Stadium at 12.30 pm.
KSOU Registrar Dr. K.B. Praveena, KSCA President K. Raghuram Bhat, University of Mysore Registrar (Evaluation) Prof. N. Nagaraju, KSOU Registrar (Evaluation) Prof. H. Vishwanath will be the chief guests. KSCA Mysuru Zone Chairman S. Balachandar, University of Mysore Syndicate Member J. Shilpa will be the guests of honour. The event will be presided by University of Mysore Vice-Chancellor Prof. N.K. Lokanath.
Department of Physical Education Director Dr. C. Venkatesh and Deputy Director Dr. P. Krishnaiah will be present.
The tournament will be played in 25 overs format. The matches will be played at SDNR Wadiyar Cricket Stadium, JSS-SJCE Cricket Ground, Maharaja’s College Cricket Ground, Coffee Board Ground (Manasagangothri) and Village Hostel Ground (In front of Gautham Hostel).
Last year, the MG University, Kottayam, emerged as winners followed by Calicut University in second place, University of Mysore in third and Kannur University, Kannur, in the fourth place.
