Speaker highlights implications of GST

Mysuru: A day-long UGC-sponsored conference on Goods and Services Tax (GST), organised by the Community College and Post-Graduate Department of Commerce, Teresian College, in the Ave Maria Golden Jubilee Auditorium of the College in Siddarthanagar,  was inaugurated on Wednesday by Dr. N. Nagaraja, Associate Professor, Department of Studies in Commerce, University of Mysore (UoM).

Speaking on the occasion, he highlighted the implications of GST, besides bringing clarity towards GST in analysing, understanding, interpreting and comprehending of GST in day-to-day activities.

Prof. V. K. Jose, Principal, Teresian College, presided. Rev. Sr. Anjali, Manager, Teresian Institutions; Dr. Veena M. D’ Almeida, Associate Professor and Convenor; Dr. P. M. Shiva Prasad, Assistant Professor and Organising Secretary; staff, students and delegates were present at the programme.

The first technical session  on  “Tax Reforms and Administrative Structure in India” was addressed by  V. Kumar, Assistant Commissioner of Commercial Taxes (Enforcement), Mysuru Zone; Second session  on  “GST Levy, Incidents, Assessment, Payment and Filing of   Returns” by Dr. M. Kumara Swamy, Associate Professor, Department of Studies in Commerce, UoM; Third session “Impact of GST on Various Stakeholders” by Dr. S. Manju, Associate Professor and Coordinator, Post-Graduate Department of Commerce, Maharani’s Commerce and Management College for Women, Mysuru.
