Special Handloom Expo and Gujarat Handicrafts Utsav at JSS Urban Haat from tomorrow

Mysore/Mysuru: After an overwhelming response for the recently concluded ‘Samskruti 2020’ special handloom exhibition, the JSS Mysore Urban Haat is organising two more expos —  Special Handloom Expo under the sponsorship of Office of the Development Commissioner (Handlooms),  Government of India, Ministry of Textiles,   Cauvery Handlooms, Bengaluru and the Department of Handloom,Textiles and Commerce and Gujarat Handicrafts Utsav under the sponsorship of INDEXT-c, Government of Gujarat — from Dec. 30  to Jan. 12.

The exhibitions will be inaugurated tomorrow (Dec. 30) at 4 pm at JSS Mysore Urban Haat, Ring Road, Hebbal Industrial Area, Mysuru.

More than 50 Weavers and  Weavers Societies from all over India including National and State awardees will be exhibiting and selling their attractive traditional and heritage handloom products in the Handloom Expo while 50 artisans of Gujarat are participating in the Gujarat Handicrafts Utsav.

The exhibition will be open for visitors from 10 am to 9 pm on all the days. There is no entry and parking fee for the exhibition.

The Weavers will exhibit Geogarphical Indication (GI) Handlooms from Tamil Nadu, Madhya Pradesh, Jharkhand, Andhra Pradesh, Kutch, Kerala, Jammu & Kashmir and from Karnataka Kanchipuram Silk  Sarees, Maheshwari Silk Sarees, Tussar Silk Sarees, Dharmavaram Silk Sarees, Kutch Shawls, Kuthampalli Handloom Sarees, Kani Shawls and Ilakal Silk Sarees, Punjabi Phulkari, Patiala Suits, Grass Mats, Curtains, Jaipur Kurthas and Raprons, Jute bags,  Kantha Stitch Sarees, Banaras Sarees and Dress Materials, Boutique Sarees and Dress, Bengali Cotton Sarees, Chicken Embroidery, Rajasthan Embroidery, Vegetable Print Dress Materials and other attractive items.

The creative artisans from Gujarat will exhibit, demonstrate and sell their rich art and crafts like Bandhani (Tie & Dye), Kutchhi Embroidery, Handloom Products, Bamboo Crafts, Jute Items, Coir Products, Clay Articles, Patch Work, Bead work, Terracotta, Warli Painting, Eco-Friendly Jewellery Items and many more.

All Covid-19 precautionary measures will be taken during the exhibitions.

City bus facility has been arranged from KSRTC Bus Stand (Bus No. 117), according to a press release.
