Mysore/Mysuru: The District Administration, Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) and District SVEEP (Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation) Samithi had jointly organised an awareness jatha in city this morning on Special Summary Revision of Electoral Roll 2023 for Publication of Integrated Draft Electoral Roll and Enrolment of Youths in Voters List.
Deputy Commissioner Dr. K.V. Rajendra flagged off the jatha from Maharani’s Science and Arts College on JLB Road.
Over 3,000 students including National Cadet Corps (NCC), National Service Scheme (NSS) volunteers from Maharani’s Science and Arts College took part in the awareness jatha which passed through JLB Road, Seetha Vilas Road, Sayyaji Rao Road, K.R. Circle and Devaraja Urs Road before culminating at the starting point.
Dr. Rajendra, speaking on the occasion, said that the Special Electoral Roll campaign is being held across the State from today (Nov. 9) till Dec. 8.
“For the next Assembly and Lok Sabha elections, the Government is preparing an eligible voters’ list. In this regard this campaign is organised to enroll new voters aged above 18 years and correction of entries in existing electoral roll, if needed. The list of Integrated Draft Electoral Roll will be provided to the political parties today at the DC Office and also the list will be put up at all the Polling Booths,” he added.
Students carried placards with messages like ‘Inform your friends about Special Summary Revision of Electoral Roll 2023’, ‘Correct your information in Voters list’, ‘Four opportunities a year to register as a voter – Jan. 1, Apr. 1, July 1, Oct. 1’, ‘ To register as a voter use Form No. 6’, ‘Don’t lose a chance to vote’, ‘Your vote is precious to build a great India’ etc.
As per Special Summary Revision of Electoral Roll 2023, people may verify Publication of Integrated Draft Electoral Roll, add their names to the voters list, correct their information, delete their names from the voters list or get transferred to their respective voting Constituencies. Applications along with necessary documents must be submitted to their respective Booth Level Officer (BLO). Applications may also be submitted by downloading Voters Helpline App at Google Play Store or by logging on to www.nvsp.in. For assistance people may reach out to Voter Helpline Toll Free Number is 1950.
People may claim objections, if any, from Nov. 9 to Dec. 8; special campaign dates are Nov. 12, Nov. 20, Dec. 3 and 4. The final list of Electoral Roll will be announced on Jan. 5, 2023.
