Mysore/Mysuru: With increase in leopard and elephant menace in the surroundings of Mysuru, a special workshop for the Leopard and Elephant Task Force personnel was held at Forest Watchers Training Centre at Yelwal in city recently.

A total of 97 Forest staff including 45 Leopard Task Force personnel, 32 outsourced Elephant Task Force personnel and 20 frontline staff attended the workshop.

Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (Project Elephant) R. Manoj, who was the resource person, explained about the challenging steps to prevent man-animal conflicts, responsibilities, discipline, team work and equipment needed while conducting an operation.

Chairman of Cauvery Multispecialty Hospital Dr. Chandrashekar, who too spoke, told the participating Forest staff not to neglect their health due to work pressure and provided information on healthy heart to lead a good life.

Also, various resource persons provided information pertaining to leopards and elephants and a mock operation was demonstrated on the occasion.

Conservator of Forests (Mysuru Circle) Dr. Malathi Priya, Mysuru Division DCFs Dr. K.N. Basavaraju, Hunsur Division’s P.A. Seema, ACF Mahadevaiah and other Forest officials were present.
