Speculations galore as Siddharamaiah moves to resort for some ‘Rest’

February 27, 2021

Bengaluru: Even as the rift in the Congress over the Mysuru Mayoral polls is yet to calm down, Opposition Leader and former Chief Minister Siddharamaiah, who is reportedly upset over N.R. MLA Tanveer Sait’s action of handing over the Mayor’s post to JD(S) in his hometown of Mysuru, in a breach of agreement between the two parties for ruling the civic body, is said to have moved to a resort in the outskirts of Bengaluru.

Siddharamaiah’s  sudden decision to stay at a resort for some ‘rest’, has given rise to speculations in party circles that he may evolve his own plans for displaying his political strength in the coming days. Reportedly upset over the recent developments in the Congress that has hurt his pride, Siddharamaiah is learnt to have making strategies on his next move for taking on KPCC President D.K. Shivakumar.

Siddharamaiah’s action of moving to a resort just two days after Mysuru Mayoral polls, has come as a surprise not only to his followers, but also in Congress circles. The Opposition Leader is said to be deeply upset over Shivakumar’s clandestine understanding with JD(S) leader and former Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy, his (Siddu) bête noire, as can be understood by the just concluded Mysuru Mayoral polls.

Congress sources said that Siddharamaiah, who held talks with a delegation of his supporters from Mysuru on Friday, had vented out his anger against the developments that took place in the party minutes before the Mayoral polls. The former CM is also learnt to have expressed his anguish over the way N.R. MLA Tanveer Sait handled the situation and surrendered meekly to the JD(S), in violation of the party’s directive.

Siddharamaiah, who is expected to stay in the resort for a couple of days, will make use of his stay to come up with  plans for keeping a check on Shivakumar (DKS), who of late is reportedly getting closer to Kumaraswamy. Accusing JD(S) of being an opportunist party, Siddharamaiah is said to have expressed his serious displeasure over the way DKS handled the party‘s moves in the Mysuru Mayoral polls.
