Mysuru: The Chief of the Special Protection Group (SPG) IGP N.S. Gupta and four other AIGPs arrived in city on Feb.15 night to oversee the arrangements and complete security cover to Prime Minister Narendra Modi who will arrive in Mysuru on Feb.18 night.
They went around the Maharaja’s College Grounds, the venue, where Modi will address the public on Feb.19 evening, the Maharaja’s College Cricket Ground, where the helicopter carrying the Prime Minister from Shravanabelagola will land and the Railway Station where he will launch the Humsafar Express to Udaipur.

The team also visited Radisson Blu Hotel and inspected the premises and later visited the Infosys campus to check which place would suit the Prime Minister to stay overnight, considering all security aspects. According to sources, the Infosys campus is a better place security wise.
It may be recalled that Hotel Lalitha Mahal Palace where the Prime Ministers usually stay is fully booked on the day of his arrival for the wedding of the son of a former bureaucrat.
The Prime Minister will land at Maharaja’s College Cricket Ground and drive to the Railway Station and after participating in the function, he will return to the Maharaja’s College Ground between 3.30 pm and 4.30 pm.
Once the place for the Prime Minister’s stay is decided the SPG will send a message to the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) from where all the instructions will come, said a source.
The Special Task Force, Finger Print Experts, Bomb Disposal Squads, Dog Squads, Ambulance are all on high alert till the Prime Minister leaves the city on Feb.19 night.
The platforms on the Mysuru Railway Station is being searched and the Police are keeping a hawk’s eye.
MP Pratap Simha, Deputy Commissioner D. Randeep, Police Commissioner Dr. A. Subrahmanyeswara Rao, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) N. Vishnuvardhana and Dr. Vikram V. Amathe, ASP Rudramuni and other officers of SPG were part of the inspection team.
Modi’s visit in 2014
Apart from Prime Minister Modi’s visit to the city to inaugurate the 103rd Indian Science Congress on Jan.3, 2016, the PM had also visited the city in April 2014 as a Prime Ministerial candidate.
However, earlier to that, he had visited the city as Gujarat Chief Minister and as a BJP leader.
