Sport gives message of ‘Universal being’: Minister

Mysuru: Social Welfare and District In-charge Minister Dr. H.C. Mahadevappa said ”Sports is a field that sends a message of ‘Universal Being’, which helps in developing a clear mindset  crossing all the hurdles.”

Mahadevappa spoke after inaugurating two-day 44th Inter-Polytechnic Sports Meet organised by Government CPC Polytechnic in association with Department of Collegiate and Technical Education at Chamundi Vihar Stadium in the city on Thursday.

“It is a matter of happiness that State-level sports meet is being organised on a grand scale after Dasara. Sports gives immense joy to man and the professionals are known for their human values and for sharing a good rapport with others,” said Minister Mahadevappa.

Along with academics, sports helps in maintaining mental and physical wellbeing  in a balanced way.  The students should resolve to create a history by achieving  in both academics and sports and uphold national integrity and sovereignty, said Minister Mahadevappa.

MLA and former Minister Tanveer Sait who also spoke on the occasion said “When the values in all other levels of life are eroding, it is only in sports that the value of a Guru still remains. Like how education is vital to children, sports holds a key for their physical and mental growth.”

As many as 2,221 students from 97 colleges across the State are participating in the sports meet. The organisers have made arrangements of food and accommodation, besides buses to transport them to the venue.

MLC Marithibbe Gowda, Collegiate and Technical Education Department’s Director K.M. Suresh Kumar, Joint Director G. Srikanth, Deputy Director S. Manjula, Assistant Director Doddamani, Development  Officer Dr. Maruthi and Principal of Government CPC Polytechnic College Prakash were present.
