Spreading awareness on dangers of talking on mobile phone while driving

Mysuru: The members of Gandhadagudi Foundation gathered at K.R. Circle here recently to create awareness about the dangers of talking on mobile phones while driving cars or riding two wheelers.

The team led by the Foundation President including the office bearers and members,  highlighted the problems caused by using mobile phones while driving.

They said that there are several incidences where the motorists put pedestrians at risk apart from causing accidents while driving. Many lives have been lost and a lot of people injured because of this practice and urged the motorists to give up this habit.

The activists displayed a pamphlet displaying a car hitting a mobile phone and the driver losing his life and in another, how bike riders talking on mobile phones have caused accidents.

Earlier, Devaraj Traffic Police Inspector Chandrashekar launched the awareness programme. Sub Inspector Puttaswamy, Yuvaraja College Lecturer Dr.K. Sowbhagyavathi, Foundation’s office bearers P.V. Manohar, Anusha, A.C. Shivayogi and others were present.

Every day hundreds of motorists in cars and on two wheelers keep mobile phones to their ears while driving. During this time as all their concentration is on the phone and the conversation, the possibility of accidents are high. This habit not only puts the drivers at risk but also causes problems to others. Hence, people must give up this habit of using mobiles while driving.

-N.L. Mohankumar, President, Gandhadagudi Foundation

Using mobile phones while driving will lead to a lot of accidents. It is a small effort on our part to create awareness among such people. It is not right on the part of motorists to create problems for pedestrians with this attitude.

-Sandhya Nandan, Secretary, Gandhadagudi Foundation
