Mysuru: Ganabharathi will be celebrating Sri Krishna Jayanti from Sept. 8 to 10 at Veene Seshanna Bhavan in Kuvempunagar with the cooperation of Kannada and Culture Department, Bengaluru. Schedule is as follows:

Sept. 8 – 6 pm: Felicitation to noted industrialist and art patron  Dr. M. Jagannath Shenoy. Suttur Seer Sri Shivarathri Deshikendra Swamiji will grace the occasion. Ganabharathi President H.R. Sundareshan will preside. Ganabharathi Hon. Chief Patron Dr. C.G. Narasimhan will be the distinguished guest.

It will be followed by a Karnatak Flute Concert by Vid. Rakesh Sudhir. He will be accompanied by Vidu. Pruthvi Bhaskar on violin and Vid. Pawan Madhav Masoor on mridanga.

Sept. 9 – 6 pm: Vidu. Indira Vaidyanathan and Vid. T.P. Vaidyanathan Memorial Programme – 2026. Karnatak Classical Vocal Concert by Vidu. Lavanya Krishnamurthy, along with Vidu. C.V. Shruthi on violin & Vid. A. Radesh on mridanga.

Sept. 10 – 5.30 pm: Felicitation to artistes and prize distribution to winners of Sri Krishna Jayanti Competitions-2026. KSGH Music University VC Prof. K. Ramakrishnaiah will be the chief guest.

Artistes to be feted are: Vidu. Dr. Rama V. Bennur (art critic and musicologist); Vidu. H.S. Rajalakshmi (Karnatak classical music); Ratna Vishwanath Mirle (theatre and social work); Vid. R.K. Padmanabha (Karnatak classical instrument – veena).

The programme will conclude with a grand Bharatanatyam recital by Dr. K. Kumar and team.

Artistes’ Profile

Vid. Rakesh Sudhir is a disciple of the late renowned flautist of Mysuru, Vid. A.V. Prakash. Following the lineage of his mentors, the couple Vid. H.K. Narasimhamurthy and Vidu. Rajalakshmi, he has been teaching classical flute to many young students.

 A ‘B’ grade artiste of All India Radio (AIR), he regularly performs at prestigious Sabhas across India. Of late, along with his students, he has been presenting novel flute duets titled ‘Shree Krishnarpanam’ and ‘Sangeetha Samskruthi Samarpanam.’

Vidu. Lavanya Krishnamurthy hails from a family of musicians in Bengaluru. Her parents Vid. T.S. Krishnamurthy, a violinist and Vidu. Suma Krishnamurthy, a Bharatanatyam artiste, are both renowned performers. Lavanya, who had her initial lessons in music from Vidu. H.N. Meera, later went on to become a prominent disciple of Dr. T.S. Sathyavathi, a noted vocalist and Sanskrit scholar.

Lavanya holds an MA in Music from Bangalore University and is a graded artiste of AIR, both in classical and devotional music. She has been presenting concerts, for over 15 years now, all over the country and abroad. She has also performed along with her guru Dr. Sathyavathi in many concerts and lec-dems.

Vid. Dr. K. Kumar, son of late T. Kariyappa of Mysuru, has served as HoD of Dance, University College of Fine Arts. He holds a Ph.D in Dance and PG degrees in Music, Sanskrit & 7 other subjects. A Doordarshan artiste, he has been honoured with numerous awards, including Mumbai’s ‘Nritya Samvardhak,’ the Government of Karnataka’s ‘Kalashree’ and ‘Acharya Kalasakara’ from Griffin College, London.
