Sri Lanka Open International Rating Chess Tournament: Thejkumar, Vijeendra score wins

Mysuru lads IM M.S. Thejkumar and former State Champion Y.G. Vijeendra representing India in Sri Lankan Open International Rating Chess Championships 2017 being held at YMBA Hall, Kurunegala near Colombo yesterday, won their first round matches respectively.

Top-seed IM M.S. Thejkumar scored a good win over Sri Lanka’s D.M. Dissanayaka while second seed Y.G. Vijayeendra scored a win against Sri Lanka’s D.A. Thavinsa Arch. Both have secured 1 point each from their wins in the first round and are placed one and two in the rankings after round one.
