Vainik Vidwan R.K. Raghavan, a famous vainika from Mysuru, was felicitated on the occasion.

Addressing the gathering, Raghavan said that felicitation to artistes should propel them to achieve more in their field. Pointing out that art is like a big river with water flowing continuously towards the sea or ocean, Raghavan said children should take to music to keep their mind afresh.

Regretting the recent tendency among children to opt out of music as they advance in their academic studies, he said that music students should not cut short their learning. Observing that gaining mastery in music is like finding a path for ‘Moksha’, Raghavan asserted that music shows the way for a healthy society. He also stressed on the need for understanding keertanas of great saints such as Purandara Dasa, Thyagaraja and Kanakadasa and contentful and peaceful living.

Vidushi Dharitri Ananda Rao and party rendered Panchhasathma Krithis of Saint Thyagaraja and Devaranamas.
