‘Nadasurabhi’ title to Sr. Musicologist Vid. Nanjundaswamy
Mysore/Mysuru: City’s Surabhi Ganakala Mandira will be celebrating Sri Purandara and Sri Thyagaraja Aradhane on Feb. 21 and 22, commencing at 10 am with the following programmes at Sri Prasanna Parvathi Kalyana Mantapa in V.V. Mohalla:
Feb. 21 – 10.30 am: ‘Thyagaraja-Guruguha Sammilana’ — Rendering of compositions of Thyagaraja and Muthuswami Dikshitar set in the identical ragas by the students of Surabhi Ganakala Mandira, to celebrate the 250th birth anniversary of Dikshitar; 6 pm: ‘Sri Purandara Navarathna’ — Goshti Gayana of Purandara Dasa’s compositions.

Feb. 22 – 8.30 am: Goshti Gayana of Thyagaraja Pancharatna Kritis by all musicians from the city, including the students of Surabhi Ganakala Mandira; 10.15 am: Felicitation to Senior Musicologist, Karnataka Kalashree Vid. V. Nanjundaswamy, with the title ‘Nadasurabhi’ by senior surgeon and art patron, Dr. C.G. Narasimhan and violin maestro and guru Karnataka Kalashree Vid. H.K. Narasimhamurthy; 10.30 am: Classical vocal concert by eminent vocalist Vid. K.S. Vishnudev Namboodiri, accompanied by Vid. H.N. Bhaskar on violin, Vid. K.U. Jayachandra Rao on mridanga and Vid. G.S. Ramanujam on ghata, followed by aarti and prasada.
