Mysuru: The 1060th Jayanti of Sri Shivarathreeshwara Shivayogi will be celebrated in a simple manner at Suttur Srikshetra tomorrow owing to the recent flood havoc.
Disclosing this at a press meet yesterday, Jayanti Mahotsava Samithi Secretary S. Shivakumaraswamy said that Suttur Seer Sri Shivarathri Deshikendra Swamiji and heads of several other Mutts would grace the occasion. The puja rituals will begin tomorrow at 3 am at Karthru Gaddige with Rudrabhisheka and Sahasra Bilwa Pushparchane. A procession carrying the idol of Sri Shivarathreeshwara will be launched at 8.30 am by District Minister V. Somanna. Vachana Gayana and devotional music are arranged at 9 am, Shivadeekshe and Lingadeekshe are arranged at 5 pm. Mahamangalarathi and Prakarothsava at 7 pm, he explained.
The 71st birthday celebration of Sri Siddalinga Shivacharya Swamiji of Surya Simhasana Mutt, Vatal, T. Narasipur taluk will also be held on the occasion.
Those desirous to have Shivadeekshe – Lingadeekshe should register today. The festival will be held at Malavalli next year, said Shivakumaraswamy.
Suttur Jathra: Chitra Santhe
A Chitra Santhe is arranged as part of the Suttur Jathra to be held at Suttur Srikshetra from Jan. 21 to 26. The event will feature a conference of artistes, an expo of paintings. A sketch of any visitor to the expo will be drawn on the spot and made available for a price.
