Mysuru: Surabhi Ganakala Mandira is celebrating its 31st Sri Tyagaraja – Purandara Aradhana on Feb. 24 and 25 at Sri Prasanna Parvathi Kalyana Mantapa, V.V.Mohalla.
On Saturday (Feb.24), the programme commences at 3 pm with the singing of ‘Purandara Navarathna’ by the young students of ‘Surabhi’ followed by the group rendering of compositions on ‘Sri Rama’ by the participants of the workshop conducted by Dr. Sukanya Prabhakar recently.
There will be a grand music concert by Vidwan Ramakrishnan Murthy (Chennai) and party from 6 pm onwards.
On Sunday (Feb. 25), there will be Goshti gayana of Pancharatna Krithis by Vidwans and Vidushis of Mysuru at 9.30 am which will be preceded by the rendering of Tyagaraja krithis by the senior students of ‘Surabhi.’
After the felicitation and conferring of the title, ‘Gaana Surabhi’ on veteran musician of Mattoor (Shivamogga), Ganakala Bhushana Vidwan T. Gopal, Vidushi Mysore S. Rajalakshmi will present a Veena recital from 11 am. Mangalarathi and Mahaprasadam will be at 1.30 pm.
