Oh My God! Mysuru girl to be featured in History Channel

February 23, 2018

Mysuru: It is a matter of pride for Mysuru, considered the Yoga Capital of the World, as a young girl from the city will be featured in History Channel. The channel has prepared a documentary on 13-year-old H. Kushi as part of its most popular OMG! (Oh My God) Yeh Mera India series Season 4.

The documentary is a part of the first episode of the series and will be aired globally. The date of the telecast has not yet been confirmed.

Yoga is a physical exercise where one can move his or her body in different positions to get more fit and flexible. And Kushi has set a jaw-dropping world record with most difficult yoga asanas. She performed Niraalamba Poorna Chakrasana for 15 times in a minute, creating new record in the Golden Book of Records.

A student of St Joseph’s Central School and also a winner in international yoga competitions, Kushi demonstrated ‘Back Plank Recline Cruncher’ (Niraalamba Poorna Chakrasana) at RBI Community Hall at RBI Nagar in city in June last year as part of her attempt for the world record. While pulling out the Niraalamba Poorna Chakrasana is a difficult task for most of us, Kushi does it with ease.

Daughter of Reserve Bank of India officers Hemachandra-Kumuda couple, Kushi has been practicing yoga since many years. She started doing yoga to resolve her breathing problems. Later she realised she has quite a talent for it. And nothing stopped her and she excelled in it too.

“I faced breathing problems and my father took me to a yoga class. Under his guidance, I resolved my breathing problem and also developed interest towards yoga. Now I am a yoga practitioner and have represented India internationally. I want to be a yoga teacher and make more records and I want to take up IAS as a profession,” she says.

Kushi performed the Niraalamba Poorna Chakrasana after seeing a video of an American yogic Kenilhi Ebina. She has won several medals in national and International level yoga competitions. She has won the silver medal in the 40th National Yoga Sports Championship held in 2015-16 and has also secured the fourth place in Solo Artistic.
