Sri Tyagaraja-Purandara Aradhana by ‘Surabhi’

Surabhi Ganakala Mandira Charitable Trust, Mysuru, is celebrating its 30th Sri Tyagaraja-Purandara Aradhana today and tomorrow (Saturday and Sunday).

Today, there will be the rendering of the compositions of Tyagaraja and Purandaradasa by the students of ‘Surabhi’ from 3 pm to 6.45 pm. At 7 pm, there will be a Classical Music Concert by Vid. Dhanya Dinesh accompanied by Prithvi Bhaskar (violin), A. Radhesh (mridanga) and V.S. Ramesh (morching). All these events will be held at Sri Vidyabharathi Prarthana Mandira in Vontikoppal.

On Feb 19 (Sunday), the programmes begin at 8 am with the singing of Purandara Navaratna Krithis in chorus by the students of ‘Surabhi’ which will be followed by the Goshti Gayana of Pancharatna krithis of Sri Tyagaraja by Musicians of Mysore and students of ‘Surabhi.

At 10 am, there will be felicitation and awarding of the title “Nada Surabhi” to the well- known musician of yesteryears, Ganakalabhushana B.S. Vijayaraghavan by the art patron K.V. Murthy.

There will be a grand music concert by Shertalai Dr. K.N. Ranganatha Sharma of Madhurai  accompanied by Mathoor Srinidhi (violin), C. Cheluvaraj (mridanga) and G.S. Ramanujan (ghata) from 10.30 am onwards which will be followed by Mahaprasadam at 1.30 pm.

Dr. Sukanya Prabhakar, along with the students of Surabhi, has requested music-lovers to be present in large numbers.
