Srikanteshwaraswamy Jathra in Nanjangud on Apr.4

Mysuru/Mysore: With the famous Sri Srikanteshwaraswamy Jathra scheduled to take place at the Temple town Nanjangud, popularly known as ‘Dakshina Kashi,’ on Apr.4, Deputy Commissioner Abhiram G. Sankar held a preparatory meeting at his office here yesterday. Addressing the meeting, Sankar said that the annual Jathra will take place on Apr.4.

In this backdrop, the authorities must  test the Ratha (Chariot) by pulling it with ropes a couple of days ahead of the Jathra.

Stressing on the need for maintaining hygiene and cleanliness during the Jathra, the DC directed the authorities to place waste bins at select points around the Jathra route and other areas.

Giving directions for ensuring supply of pure drinking water  and construction of make-shift toilets during the Jathra, he said that priority must be given for building of devotee facility sheds and installation of colourful lights around the Temple.

Abhiram G. Sankar asked the Police to take appropriate security measures and to ensure proper vehicle parking facility during the Jathra. Referring to health measures, the DC directed the Health Department officials to take appropriate measures for preventing  any outbreak of epidemics and to set up emergency Health Centres. The officials were also asked to keep ambulances attached with Medical staff for meeting emergencies. 

He asked KSRTC officials to deploy a heavy-duty crane during the Rathotsava.

MLAs B. Harshavardhan, H.P. Manjunath and M. Ashwin Kumar, SP C.B. Ryshyanth and Additional SP P.V.Sneha were present.
