Mysore/Mysuru: ‘Cheeni Mama, Tingala Mama’, a theatre music fest organised jointly by Charu Samskrutika Pratishtana and Bank Naukarara Balaga in memory of noted Rangayana theatre artiste Srinivas Bhat (popularly known as Cheeni Mama) who passed away recently, began at Kirurangamandira in Rangayana premises here on Saturday.
Speaking on the occasion, woman activist D. Sheelakumari said that Srinivas Bhat used to give importance for teaching theatre music to students during the annual College Rangotsava organised at Rangayana. Srinivas also inspired students to actively involve themselves in theatre, she said. Stating that students who worked under him learnt the art of theatre, she said it is happy to note that they have shaped their careers in different fields and excelled in their chosen profession.
Later, artistes of Charu Samskrutika Pratishtana — Sannutha Mohan, Akshata Kumta, C. Aruna, Kiran, Prayag Kore, Srikantaswamy, Anush Shetty, Sundaresh Devapriyam (Munna), Chidambar Kulkarni — performed on the occasion.
