Staging of play ‘Obbalu’ at Vanaranga this evening

The Channel Theatre, Pandavapura, will be staging the Kannada play ‘Obbalu’ based on Dario Fo’s ‘A Woman Alone’ at Vanaranga in Rangayana premises today at 6.30 pm. Entry ticket for the play is priced at Rs. 55.

Obbalu is a play about a housewife in a regretful relationship with her jealous husband who has locked her up in home. Yet, the dutiful housewife, goes through hard daily work which involves taking care of her baby, looking after her perverted head-to-toe plastered brother-in-law, fighting with a peeping toms, dealing with dirty phone calls. Her daily life is slowly driving her to madness. But, will she be able to overcome it?  You will get to know only on watching the play.

Akshatha Pandavapura, a graduate from National School of Drama (NSD), New Delhi, will play the protagonist. It also features other actors such as Naveen and Tejas. The play is directed by D. Prasanna.
