Stain removers banned

May 14, 2017

Mysuru: The Government authorities, taking into account public health, have banned bottled stain removers, thinners, nail polish remover and other such liquids (bottled correction fluid, bottled thinners, bottled nail polish remover containing Toluene, Bromopropane, Methyl Chloroform, Trichloroethylene etc.).

Action will be taken under Food Safety and Quality Act against those found manufacturing, bottling, selling and stocking of such liquids.

However, stain removers can be sold in pen-shaped containers with the sticker maintaining that the use is not harmful, pasted on them,   according to a release  issued by the Food Safety and Quality Act-Sanctioned Officers Dr. S. Chidambara and  Dr. Kusuma.
