Sir,
The Ramaswamy Circle is an important alighting point of passengers who come to Mysuru by bus. Every day thousands of passengers get down at this stop to reach various destinations in the city.
However, the autorickshaw service at Ramaswamy Circle is horribly bad. Rickshaw drivers at this stand take the passengers for a ride by demanding higher fares. Particularly, passengers who alight here late at night and early in the morning have to face lot of hardship as they demand high fares from them.
They refuse to put meter and demand lumpsum amount. Usage of harsh and abusive language is common against passengers who genuinely protest unreasonable charges.
This is not only my experience, many of my friends and relatives who have used rickshaw services at this point have echoed similar opinion.
The pre-paid auto services at the Suburban bus station as well as Railway Station have been found to be traveller-friendly and very useful steps in curbing the above menace in local conveyance.
Hence, I request the authorities concerned to start similar pre-paid rickshaw service counters at Ramaswamy Circle and such similar points which have high commuter density, particularly in the wee hours. This will definitely prove to be another tourist-friendly step towards safe and hassle-free travel in Mysuru.
