State Congress in-Charge to address  party leaders’ tomorrow

May 7, 2017

Bengaluru: Even as the State BJP is holding a two-day Executive meet to get the party fully prepared for the 2018 Assembly Polls, the Congress too seems to match the BJP, with the newly appointed State Congress party in-Charge K.C. Venugopal all set to hold meetings with party leaders at the State Capital for three days from tomorrow.

Venugopal, who is visiting the State for the first time since his appointment a few days ago, will seek opinion from party leaders on naming the new KPCC President in place of Dr. G. Parameshwara who is currently holding the post.

Venugopal will be accompanied by four AICC Secretaries — Maickam Tagore, P.C. Vishwanath, Madhu Goud Yaskhi and Dr. Sake Sailajanath, according to sources.

The State party in-Charge K.C. Venugopal who is expected to arrive in the State capital on Monday morning, will meet District Presidents and office-bearers in the afternoon.  On Tuesday, he will hold talks with senior party leaders and later with the party MPs, Chief Minister Siddharamaiah and his Cabinet colleagues and party legislators.

Venugopal is also expected to hold one-to-one talks with the CM, KPCC President Dr.G. Parameshwara and KPCC Working President Dinesh Gundu Rao.  On Wednesday, Venugopal is likely to hold a party co-ordination meet in the morning, where several important decisions on strengthening the party will be taken, following which he will report to AICC President Sonia Gandhi and Vice-President Rahul Gandhi.

Even as Venugopal is arriving in Bengaluru tomorrow, there seems to be a stiff competition between Ministers D.K. Shivakumar, M.B. Patil and Eshwar Khandre and former Minister S.R. Patil for the KPCC President’s post.
