Mysuru:  Officials of various ranks of State Excise Department in the District attended a video conference conducted by State Excise Commissioner V. Yeshwantha at DC’s Office Conference Hall here this morning in view of LS polls.

The meeting discussed the preparedness of Department Officials to curb illegal movement of liquor, brewing, illegal storage among other issues.

Deputy Commissioner of Excise of Mysuru District, Superintendent of Excise, Deputy Superintendents of Excise, all Excise Inspectors and other officials were present.

The Excise Commissioner also directed the officials to keep a close vigil on the supply of liquor during the elections and to keep a tab on suspicious vehicles. He instructed them to strictly follow the directions of the Election Commission  and act swiftly once they receive any poll-related complaints.

They were asked to keep an eye on bulk procurement, orders of liquor bottles from shops besides to check ‘booze’ parties organised by the supporters of political parties. The Officials were asked to seize and book cases immediately if they found any poll code violations.
