State-level Athletics Meet in city from Jan. 31

DC directs officials to provide all facilities to students

Mysore/Mysuru: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Dr. K.V. Rajendra has said that a State- level Athletics Meet 2022-23 will be held in city and directed the Deputy Director of Public Instructions (DDPI) to provide all facilities to sportspersons and make proper arrangements to make the event a success.

He was speaking at a preliminary meeting held in this connection at DC Office recently.

“This is the first State-level sports meet that is being held in Mysuru post-COVID and it is being held at Chamundi Vihar Stadium for four days from Jan.31. Provide all facilities to the participants keeping in view of their health and safety,” he said.

Dr. Rajendra asked the authorities to provide good lodging facilities to every student and transport facility from his/her place of lodging to the stadium. “Depute three officials to be in-charge of the sportspersons of every district and they should take full responsibility of the participants till the sports meet is over. Also make arrangements to take outside sportspersons around a few places in the city. Provide mobile toilets and Police security at the stadium. Medical facilities consisting of a team of Doctors and other paramedical staff along with an ambulance should also be ready at the stadium,” added the DC.

DDPI  Ramachandraraje Urs, who spoke at the meeting, said that the competitions will be held for Primary and High School level and 4,608 students will participate. The participants will report to authorities on Jan.30 and the competitions will be held from Jan.31 to Feb.3.

There will be 10 events for Primary students and 19 for High School, he added.

District Health and Family Welfare Officer Dr. K.H. Prasad and other officials of Education Department were present at the meeting.
