Mysuru: Bengaluru South and Bengaluru North emerged as overall champions in the State-Level Badminton Championship jointly organised by the Department of Public Instructions (PU) and Sri Ramakrishna Vidyashala in boys and girls categories respectively at Manasagangothri Indoor Stadium, here recently.
In the boy’s doubles finals, Bengaluru South defeated Dakshina Kannada (21-18, 14-21, 13-21) to emerge as winners. Meanwhile in the girls doubles, Bengaluru North defeated Mysuru in straight sets (13-21, 13-21). In the boys singles, Dhayan of Bengaluru South defeated Anshul of Dakshina Kannada (05-21, 05-21) to walk away with the winner’s trophy while in the girls singles, Divya of Mysuru won against Ananya of Bengaluru North (08-21, 08-21) straight sets.
The trophies, medals and certificates were distributed to winners by Department of Public Instructions Deputy Director (Affiliations and Grants) Siddaraju. Speaking on the occasion, he said the winners of State-Level Tournament must ensure victories at National and International levels.
Stating that intelligence was also important along with strength to emerge victorious, Siddaraju said the State Government had also reserved jobs for talented sports persons.
Sri Ramakrishna Vidyashala Correspondent Swami Yuktheshanandaji, who spoke on the occasion stated that every match was intense with shuttlers fighting for supremacy.
He also called upon the shuttlers – both winners and those who had lost – to approach their respective coaches for guidance to correct their mistakes for better results.
University of Mysore, Department of Physical Education Director Dr. C. Venkatesh, Sri Ramakrishna Vidyashala Principal T.K. Chandrashekar, Physical Education Teacher Sudharshan, Bengaluru South Team Manager S. Krishna and others were present.
