State-level spiritual quiz competition:Saligrama Mahila Samaja bags Rolling Shield

Mysuru –  Padmashree Jain Mahila Samaja, Shankara Mutt Road, Mysuru, celebrated International Women’s Day by organising a State-level spiritual quiz contest at its Attimabbe auditorium recently. Jainology and Prakrit Lecturer Dr. M.S. Padma and Dr. Abhijith Algowdar were the Jury for the quiz contest.

A total of five teams took part in the quiz competition. While Saligrama Mahila Samaja bagged Rolling Shield by winning first and third prize, Chakreshwari Mahila Samaja won second prize. Two prizes were given to Ugara Mahila Samaja and consolation prize was given to Padmashree Jain Mahila Samaja. The event was held in memory of M.D. Gandhi and prizes were sponsored by Nirmala Bharath Raj and Bharath Raj of Bannimantap.

Also, spiritual talk on ‘Granta Tatparya Sutra’ from Chapters 6 to 10 was delivered.

Sheela Anantharaj, President of Akhila Karnataka Jain Mahila Okkuta, presided. Padma Danyakumar compered. Anjana Sudarshan welcomed. Nandini Ananthraj proposed a  vote of thanks.

Dr. Priti  Srimandharkumar, Director of Kuvempu Institute of Kannada Studies (KIKS), was the chief guest during the evening programme which featured felicitation to women achievers — Sowmya Sridhar  Jain (Best Teacher), Akhila Karnataka Jain Mahila Okkuta and Padmashree Jain Mahila Samaja Secretary Latha Sudarshan (Gold Medal in MA  Jainology & Prakrit from Mysore University and Bronze Medal from Bahubali Prakrit Vidyapeeth – Shravanabelagola), Prabhamani Manjunath (Music), Chandrika Vijaykumar (Gold Medal from Mysore University) and Swapna (Gold Medal from Bahubali Prakrit Vidyapeeth – Shravanabelagola). Dr. M.V. Shantakumar sponsored the event in memory of Nalini Shantakumar.
