Mysore/Mysuru: Seshadripuram Degree College, Mysuru, in association with University of Mysore (UoM), NSS Cell and IQAC, had organised a State- level webinar titled “Awareness on Covid-19 Vaccination” on Apr. 29.
Nadoja Dr. Wooday P. Krishna, Hon. General Secretary, Seshadripuram Educational Institutions, spoke on the importance of vaccination, acting with social responsibility, impact of Covid-19 second wave, safety measures to be taken etc., during the pandemic.
Prathap Lingaiah, State NSS Officer, emphasised the importantace of vaccination drive, first-aid steps, usefulness of Covid Helpline and role of students as volunteers during the pandemic.
Dr. M.B. Suresh, NSS Programme Coordinator, University of Mysore, appreciated the role of NSS students associated with University, role of Medical Officers and also spoke on the importance of vaccines. He called upon the youths for active participation as volunteers.
Dr. T. Shivakumar, Medical Officer, Chitradurga, who was the resource person of the Webinar, spoke at length regarding vaccination to fight Covid-19. He also clarified doubts of vaccination by defining vaccine, positive effects of vaccination, types of vaccines, doses of vaccination, goal of achieving herd immunity, stages of research and data describing rate of success through vaccination, emergency usage of vaccines and registration process in vaccination using IDs.
He also asked the participants to stay away from false news and instead take steps in increasing immunity, precautions while taking vaccine etc.
Prof. K. Sowmya Erappa, Principal, Seshadripuram Degree College, Dr. R. Raghavendra, NSS Coordinator, students alongwith other teaching and non-teaching staff took part in the webinar.
