State reeling under financial crisis: B.S. Yeddyurappa

October 15, 2017

Bengaluru: Claiming that Chief Minister Siddharamaiah has pushed the State’s finance to bankruptcy, former CM and State BJP President B.S. Yeddyurappa (BSY) has said that it would not be a surprise if the Congress Government even pledged Vidhana Soudha for raising funds to meet farm loan waiver.

Addressing a press meet here yesterday, Yeddyurappa alleged that the State treasury was on the brink of bankruptcy.

Maintaining that the State Government had no funds for taking up developmental works, he alleged that the Siddharamaiah Government was planning to raise loans by pledging Government land and properties.

Pointing out that nearly four months has passed since the Government announced farm loan waiver in Co-operative Banks, Yeddyurappa said that the Government is yet to compensate the Co-operative Banks.

Stating that more than 60 farmers have committed suicide since the  announcement of farm loan waiver, he said that Siddharamaiah was making false claims.

Claiming that the Siddharamaiah Government has borrowed Rs. 1,33,409 crore from different agencies, Yeddyurappa said that the Centre has given Rs. 1,13,478 crore grant to the State in the past three years and wondered where all this money had gone.

He further alleged that the CM was pressurising Mysore Minerals Limited (MML) to deposit its investible surplus funds of  Rs. 1,400 crore with the Karnataka Co-operative Apex Bank Limited to make up for Rs. 8,165 crore farm loan waiver in Co-operative Banks.
