Sir,
This refers to the news item published in Star of Mysore dated Nov. 3 regarding the sterilisation of street dogs. I would like to bring a matter of serious concern to the attention of MCC authorities.
I reside at 2nd Stage, Srirampura, 1st Main, 4th Cross, where the street dogs in our locality were recently taken for sterilisation. Unfortunately, after being brought back following the procedure, one of the dogs refused to eat for several days and gradually became very weak. Sadly, the dog passed away.
As an animal lover and someone deeply concerned about animal welfare, I would like to make a humble request to the authorities.
While sterilisation is undoubtedly an important measure for controlling the street dog population, I feel that equal importance should be given to the health and well-being of these animals during and after the procedure.
I request the authorities to ensure that every dog is properly examined before being released back into its locality.
Particular attention should be given to possible infections, surgical wounds, post-operative complications and the animal’s overall health. Adequate post-operative care and monitoring are equally important.
A little more attention and compassion during this crucial period could perhaps prevent such unfortunate incidents. Sterilisation is not merely a procedure; it also carries a responsibility to ensure the safety, recovery and well-being of every animal.
