Stock market scam: Woman loses Rs. 16.7 lakh

Mysore/Mysuru: A woman from Vijayanagar 3rd Stage has fallen victim to a stock market fraud, losing  Rs. 16.7 lakh.

The incident began when she came across a stock market advertisement on YouTube and clicked on the link to express interest. Soon after, a man identifying himself as Veer Rawat contacted her and allegedly claimed that investing heavily in crude oil stocks could yield crores of rupees in profit.

Believing his assurances, the woman transferred Rs. 16.7 lakh in stages to the bank account specified by him. She later realised that she had been cheated.

Following her complaint, the Mysuru City Cyber Crime Police have registered a case and launched an investigation into the incident.
