Stop vehicles entering Mysuru-Bengaluru Highway from unmonitored entry points

June 10, 2024

Sir,

This is to bring to your attention a matter of public safety and fairness concerning the Mysuru-Bengaluru Highway. As a regular commuter, who abides by the rules, I have observed a troubling pattern where vehicles are entering the highway from unmonitored entry points, particularly near the Bidadi bridge, leading to increased traffic congestion and hazardous driving conditions.

These unauthorised entries not only compromise the integrity of the toll system but also pose a significant risk to those who have paid their dues and expect a smooth and secure commute. The lack of enforcement by the authorities has resulted in avoidable accidents and unjust fines for lane changes made to evade these vehicles.

The highway is riddled with similar unguarded entry and exit points, which is grossly unfair to the paying users. It is disheartening to witness the indifference of the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) toward this exploitation of the system.

The need of the hour is immediate corrective measures. We must ensure that the 10-lane access-controlled highway/expressway is a safe and equitable passage for all and that the toll revenues are justly utilised for the maintenance and betterment of our roads.
