Stray dog menace at K.C. Layout

Two-wheeler riders inconvenienced a lot as street dogs chase vehicles

Mysuru: A pack of stray dogs chasing public, especially two-wheeler riders, is creating a lot of tension at K.C. Layout in city.

This pack of dogs indulge in frequent fights near the compound of a hotel on the 6th Cross and chase two-wheeler riders passing by, causing panic to the riders who some time fall and injure themselves.

Pedestrians on this particular stretch of the road risk themselves of getting bitten whenever they pass on this road as they get chased by the stray dogs. Senior citizens and children are afraid to walk on this stretch.

According to residents, recently, the pack of dogs, which were fighting amongst themselves chased and attacked the rider passing on this road.

Another rider stopped his scooter on the roadside as he feared that the dogs would chase him if he rode fast.

The dogs could be seen waiting for an opportunity to attack him if he starts his scooter. The rider stood at the spot for some time till the dogs dispersed and then rode away.

A few months back, stray dogs attacked and seriously injured a child who was walking towards home from a shop at Gundurao Nagar. Such incidents are taking place frequently across the city and ironically, the Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) authorities are doing nothing to control this menace despite lodging complaints. All they (MCC officials) say is that the stray dogs are being neutered to control its population, but their population is increasing, raising doubts whether stray dogs are being neutered.

Whatever it is, it is high time the authorities concerned take this issue seriously and initiate steps to control stray dog menace, public said.
