Stray dogs maul baby to death in Mandya hospital

July 26, 2017

Mandya: In a heart-rending incident, a new-born baby girl was mauled to death by stray dogs inside the Mandya Institute of Medical Sciences last night. The child’s body, with freshly severed umbilical cord, was found this morning with scratch and bite marks all over its body.

A pack of dogs had entered the hospital building last night and came near the blood bank where the baby was abandoned by its parents. After attacking the baby in the night, the dogs returned this morning.

Spotting the baby being pulled around by the dogs, some patients shooed away the canines and alerted the hospital authorities. They shifted the baby to a ward and was declared dead. A search was launched and they found no baby missing from hospital beds. Hospital authorities have now stated that the baby  might have been abandoned by its parents inside the hospital.
