Street Play: Entries invited from writers, theatre troupes

The Kannada and Culture Department proposes to stage street plays to create awareness on eradicating untouchability as mentioned in Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, 1989 and has invited applications for the same.

Street play troupes and writers belonging to Scheduled Caste (ST) and Scheduled Tribe (ST) community may apply. Applicant writers must submit caste certificate with latest RD (Residence/Domicile) number. Writers, who have already published books, will be given priority. Five writers will be selected at the Department’s District-level Committee Meeting and they must submit the play script within a week’s time. They will be paid an honorarium of Rs. 5,000.

Eligible theatre troupes from the district will be trained to stage the street play. Last date to submit the application is               Nov. 23. For details, contact Ph: 08221-2513225, according to Assistant Director, Kannada and Culture Department.
