Strengthen Kannada to exercise our rights effectively: Hamsalekha

June 24, 2024

Mysore/Mysuru: “Kannada is our weapon in Karnataka to exercise our rights. We all should spare no efforts to strengthen Kannada even more,” opined Kannada film music director and lyricist Hamsalekha.

The renowned music director was speaking at a function organised to release two books authored by Yadiyur  Samiullah, held at Kirurangamandira, Kalamandira premises in the city recently.

The Kannada books ‘Nenapina Chittaragalu’ and ‘Nenapina Malebillu’ were released at the function organised  by Sahityaloka.

“Kannada is the spine and brain of Karnataka’s regional plan. Any attempt to change the federal system of our State will harm this vital essence. The treasure of Karnataka is our right. Because of this, we must all strengthen Kannada,” said Hamsalekha.

He stated that people of all religions and communities must strongly embrace Kannada. If anyone tries to create trouble for Kannadigas, we must show them that, we have a right called Kannada to counter troublemakers.

Hence, members of lower strata communities like Bhima Parivar must actively associate themselves with pro-Kannada organisations, added the Sandalwood music director.

“The political career of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah started with the Kannada Kavalu Samiti, and he is committed to protecting the interests of Kannada and Kannadigas. We must strengthen his efforts. The CM has declared Basavanna as Karnataka’s Cultural Leader. No one can trouble Kannada and Kannadigas for the next five years,” said Hamsalekha.

Lauding writer Samiullah’s love for Kannada and complimenting him for prefixing his name with Yadiyur, Hamsalekha said Samiullah breathes Kannada like the late Kareem Khan, Kannada film lyricist.

Columnist Gubbigoodu Ramesh noted that writers have added strength to pro-Kannada movements through their literary works.

“Samiullah, who has until now engaged in cultural activities, has ventured into writing and carved a niche for himself. In his two books, he narrates his life journey and experiences,” he said.

Singer Rajesh Padiyar presented a light music programme. A song on Preamble of our Constitution, composed by Hamsalekha, was sung by Darshan.

Sahityaloka President Dr. Y.D. Rajanna, Shekar, Indrani, Ashwini, A.G. Devaraju, Latha Hamsalekha, Veda D. Rajoli and others were present.
