Strictly penalise traffic violators

June 26, 2021

Sir,

Apropos the news item “Poor response to Voluntary Checking Points” (Star of Mysore dated June 23), we should understand that most of the traffic violations are done deliberately. And it is noticed that most of these violators are habituated to break multiple traffic rules.

When the violations are done deliberately, how can the Police Department presume that all these traffic rule violators will voluntarily come forward to clear their dues ? Probably those who cleared the dues in the kiosks must be the violators who would have inadvertently violated the traffic rules.

Only strict enforcement of penal clauses against the violators can curtail traffic violations and have the desired results.

A soft approach towards these violators will not yield any positive results in curbing the rampant traffic rule violations.
