The Police Department has booked a total of 44 criminal cases in three years against private money lenders charging exorbitant interest in Mysuru said Home Minister Dr. G. Parameshwara.
Responding to a question with regard to a query of curbing private money lenders by MLC Sandesh Nagaraj at Legislative Council yesterday, Minister Parameshwara said that the Police had registered 17 cases in 2014, 18 cases in 2015 and 9 cases in 2016.
He also said that the problems with respect to lack of sufficient Police staff in Mysuru would be solved during the next recruitment process and added that measures would be taken to implement M-Track effectively to prevent accidents.
Sandesh Nagaraj also mentioned about the increasing number of crimes in Mysuru city. Stating that Mysuru city had recorded 25 murders in the last year, he mentioned rowdyism, chain snatching, dacoity cases had increased drastically.
Mentioning that the NIA had arrested two persons in Madurai for their alleged involved in Mysuru Court Bomb case, Sandesh Nagaraj said that child trafficking racket was rampant in Mysuru. He also said that Police must be on alert and prevent criminal activities and take measures to solve the previous cases as well.
Water sold to private parties
The Vani Vilas Water Works (VVWW) which has been supplying water to Mysuru City is selling water to private persons at a very low price and the private persons were selling them to others for a higher price, said Sandesh Nagaraj.
Answering to this, Urban Development Minister Roshan Baig said that currently, VVWW was supplying 50,000 litres of water to private persons through eight tankers at a cost of Rs. 200 for 8,000 litres and Rs. 400 for 12,000 litres of water.
Sandesh Nagaraj also requested the Minister to supply free water through tankers to few layouts in Mysuru where regular water supply was a problem to which Roshan Baig said that water was being supplied to such layouts through 22 water tankers which have been taken on contract basis.
