Mysore/Mysuru: A Post-Graduate student committed suicide by hanging inside his room in Manasagangothri Hostel on Saturday night and the incident came to light yesterday morning.

The deceased is Siddarameshwara (24), a native of Shahapur village in Yadgir district. He was pursuing his second year MA Sociology course at Mysore University and was staying at the Men’s Hostel in Manasagangothri campus.

Jayalakshmipuram Police, who conducted mahazar, shifted the body to MMC&RI mortuary besides registering a case. Post-mortem was conducted after the deceased’s family members arrived from Yadgir and the body was later handed over to them. 

Siddarameshwara’s classmates said that he had lost  his father four months ago and had come to Mysuru to pursue his PG course. 

Police said that the reason for Siddarameshwara to take the extreme step is yet to be known.
