Student dies after ramming scooter into stationed tractor

Mysuru: A girl student, who was blinded by drizzle, died of severe head injuries after ramming her scooter into a parked tractor near Gangothri Glades in Manasagangothri here last evening.

The deceased student has been identified as S. Sushmita (19), a resident of Manchegowdanakoppal here, who was pursuing her B.Com course at JSS Women’s College in Saraswathipuram.

Sushmitha, who had lost her parents, was staying with her uncle Kumaraswamy and was pursuing her studies.

Sushmita, who finished her College at about 5 pm yesterday, was proceeding towards her house on her Honda Activa scooter (KA-09 HM-9254) when it started drizzling. Blinded by the drizzle, as she continued to ride the scooter, she rammed the scooter into a parked tractor (KA-09 T-7323) near Gangothri Glades in Manasagangothri here after failing to notice it.

The impact was so severe that Sushmita suffered serious head injuries and died on the spot.

Even the scooter was heavily damaged in the incident, said V.V. Puram Traffic Police, who have registered a case in this regard.
