Student from Mysuru drowns in Cauvery River

Madikeri: A student from Mysuru, who had gone for a swim in Cauvery River at Kanive village near Kudige drowned on Monday.

The deceased student is Hruthwik (16), son of Ravikumar of Rangaiahnakoppal near Bilikere in Hunsur taluk, who was pursuing his PUC course at Trinity College in Mysuru.

Hruthwik, who had gone to his friend’s house at Chennakeshavapura in Periyapatna taluk on Sunday, took part in Bettadapura Jathra. On Monday, Hruthwik along with his friends came to Kanive village and ventured into the water for a swim, but met his tragic end.

Fire and Emergency Services personnel were summoned to the spot, who traced the body and fished it out from the river.

A case has been registered at Kushalnagar Rural Police Station.
