Mysore/Mysuru: The recently concluded Karnataka Common Entrance Test (KCET) has turned out to be a cause of worry for students who have alleged few questions in Physics, Chemistry and Biology papers being out of syllabus. Seeing their wards putting on a worried face, the parents have demanded a re-examination.
The students have alleged that almost 30-35 questions in eligibility tests conducted for admissions to professional courses being out of the prescribed National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) syllabus.
Star of Mysore received calls from anxious students, parents and even grandparents, who complained about the questions being out of syllabus.
Speaking to SOM, Leela, a resident of Kuvempunagar, said that her grandson, who had attended the KCET, was worried about losing marks as some of the questions in the papers were not from the prescribed syllabus.
G. Yashas, a student of Sadvidya PU College, mentioned that out of the 60 questions, about 20 questions in Chemistry, 13-14 questions in Mathematics were out of the syllabus.
Some of the students also claimed that few questions in Biology paper were not from the prescribed NCERT text books.
“The Government has been playing with the future of the students by giving questions out of the syllabus. Despite similar incidents being reported in the past, the authorities have only turned a blind eye. Though the colleges are informed about few chapters being left out at the beginning of the academic years, the questions from the chapters being left out are appearing in the question papers,” said Narayanaswamy, a resident of Hebbal, who also mentioned that awarding grace marks would definitely affect the future of the meritorious students.
Meanwhile, Karnataka Examination Authority (KEA) has invited objections from the students who had appeared for the KCET held on Apr. 18 and Apr. 19. In a press release, KEA Executive Director S. Ramya has said that the objections with valid reasons can be sent to KEA via e-mail: keaugcet24@gmail.com
While sending the objections, students must indicate the Subject, Version Code and Question Number. Last date to submit the objections is Apr. 27 before 5.30 pm.
