Studies should involve depth, dedication and discipline: DC

Mysore/Mysuru: Maintaining that any studies or research should involve depth, dedication and discipline, Deputy Commissioner Dr. Bagadi Gautham observed that knowledge earned through mere click of mouse will be short-lived.

He was speaking at the inauguration of Sri Ramakrishna Vidyashala Students Association and office-bearers’ installation ceremony at Vidyashala premises in Yadavagiri on Thursday.

Reiterating that knowledge earned by click of mouse will remain short-lived, Dr. Gautham said that a detailed, in-depth and invasive approach is needed for long-term remembrance of what we study.

Stressing on the need for being positive about studies, he advised the students to keep away from TVs as far as possible.

Observing that students should stay away from unnecessary matters out of their mind, the DC said that such issues will only bring in negative thoughts on one hand and diminish their thinking capacity on the other.

Pointing out that Ramakrishna  Vidyashala has an excellent library, he asked the students to develop reading habits as it will enhance their thinking.

Noting that Swami Vivekananda, who had great belief in spiritualism, had guided scores of students and others on leading a spiritual and spirited life, he called upon the students to imbibe humanism more than anything else.

Parth Nandan Shetia, a II PU student, was installed as the President of Students Association while Sourav, a tenth standard student as Vice-President, Shreyas, a tenth standard student as General Secretary, Srigiri V. Patil, a tenth standard student as Joint Secretary and several students as other office-bearers were also installed.

Mysuru Ramakrishna Ashram President Swami Muktidanandaji, Sri Ramakrishna Vidyashala’s Yukteshanandaji, S. Balaji and others were present on the occasion.
