Study impact of thermal drones on wildlife

January 25, 2020

Sir,

This refers to the news item “Thermal drones to battle wildfires at Nagarahole” (SOM dated Jan.22). Thermal drones to be deployed to detect wildfires and adopt instant preventive steps is a new addition which may go a long way in controlling wildfires. Hope these drones could be used to detect poachers and also watch over violation of forest rules by visitors etc. But the impact of the use of drones, its sound etc., deserves to be studied to ensure that it does not disturb the wildlife in any way.
