Subway near Dasara Exhibition reeks of urine stench

November 9, 2019

Sir,

It is disheartening to see the conditions of the underground pedestrian walkway (subway) from Mysore Palace to Dasara Exhibition Grounds. The walkway reeks of urine stench and it makes us impossible to commute.

Yesterday, we decided to use the subway instead of crossing the road and disturbing the traffic. However, I was disappointed with the maintenance, as people had urinated over there, the floor was all wet, and it was littered with garbage and food. We just could not breathe while commuting through the subway. It is the filthiest place to utilise.

I had hoped that the subway would have been clean as so many tourists come to visit the exhibition. Using the underground walkway as toilets is intolerable when the Government has built public toilets to utilise.

When we do not respect and safeguard the public properties such as subways, toilets, hospitals. How can we blame the Government when they are trying to provide good facilities? Even the citizens must feel responsible towards safeguarding the public property.

I request the authorities to close this subway or clean it as it might lead to a threat for public health. I hope that these conditions can be improved for the welfare and benefit of the people of Mysuru.
